Ever been on a first date or job interview where you want to make a great first impression but feel completely self conscious about something? Whether it is your wrinkled shirt, your scuffed shoes, or your crooked teeth, you feel completely distracted. It feels like the flaw takes over your first impression. Truth be told, people are not paying much attention to your shirt or shoes, but they will naturally gravitate to your smile. Don’t let malocclusion, or crooked teeth, taint your confidence. Invisalign is here to help.
What Does Your Smile Say About You?
Your smile is one feature that elicits the most immediate and positive reaction from others. A confident smile is contagious. When you smile, you evoke a natural and spontaneous smile in others. This easy expression is inviting and conveys happiness or friendliness. Unfortunately, most people will be able to recognize a fake smile. If your smile is stiff or forced, it conveys the complete opposite of friendliness. If you hide your smile completely, you communicate a lack of authenticity or interest. With your smile saying so much all on its own, don’t you think it’s time to do something about your teeth?

Invisalign Treatment Process
If you are considering Invisalign and are somewhat familiar with the process, you know it involves clear trays of some kind. This information is likely not enough to convince you that these are the right orthodontics. Knowing more about the whole process will help you feel confident in your decision. Below are the five steps of Invisalign treatment.
1. Talk to an Invisalign Provider
As with every dental and orthodontic treatment, it is important to consult with a certified provider. After a brief consultation our dentist will evaluate your smile and determine how, and if, Invisalign can help. Dr. Dana Keith, the best Cloverly & Silver Spring dentist, will also take X-rays, images and impressions of your teeth. During this appointment, you should ask questions you have about costs, procedure or insurance.
2. A Specialized Treatment Plan
Invisalign then creates a 3D digital image of the structures of your mouth, generated from the information taken during the initial exam. From this image, Cloverly & Silver Spring cosmetic dentist will map out the precise movements of your teeth over the course of treatment. You will know how long treatment will take, how many aligners you will use, and how often you will have to check back with our office. You will be able to see a virtual representation of how your teeth will move.
3. Receive Your Aligners
Next you will receive your series of custom-built aligners. Invisalign creates these trays specifically for your smile. The smooth, comfortable plastic will not irritate your cheeks or gums. The aligners are easy to remove when you eat, drink, or brush your teeth. With each set of aligners your teeth gently shift into place.
4. Change Aligners Every Two Weeks
Though your Cloverly & Silver Spring dentist will determine the exact time, you will likely change out your aligners every two weeks. You wear the trays for 20 to 22 hours every day. Occasional checkups will occur intermittently so your dentist can check on the progress of your smile. Another benefit of Invisalign is that you can see the transformation of your teeth at every stage. Soon your smile will be complete.
5. A New Smile
Complete treatment of your smile can take anywhere from nine to 15 months, or longer. Once the procedure is completed you will have a smile to enjoy. At the end of your treatment, you will want to talk with our dentists about how to best maintain your new smile. You may need comfortable retainers to help keep your teeth in their new positions.
