TYPES OF CRACKED TEETH AND WHAT To DO WITH THEM

Craze Lines

The tiny cracks which are of no harm, usually found among adults they only effect the outer enamel & cause no pain.

Fractured Cusp

A weak cusp would fracture soon. It should be removed soon because breaking off on its own would lead to a damaged pulp.

Cracked Tooth

A cracked tooth is a danger because it means the damage is extended till the root & if not treated on time would result in root canal or worse extraction.

Split Tooth

Fl split tooth occurs when a cracked tooth is left for long untreated. The probability of saving a split tooth intact is negligible.

Vertical Root Fracture

In this condition the fracture initiates from the root of the tooth & extends towards the chewing surface. It is hard to discover these.

HOW TO TREAT THEM?

Filing

Filing part of the tooth would be the ideal choice if the crack is minor.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is done by binding the fractured part of the tooth with white filling material. Perfect for toot with minor chips.

Mouth Guard

Minor fractures 8 cracks could be treated by wearing mouth guards at night.

Crown

A notable crack in the tooth is often treated with a crown saving it from further damage.

Root Canal

A root canal is done if the crack has penetrated the pulp & has infected it.
